Chile is the thinnest nation in the entire world. But for all that Chile's territory is narrow, it nonetheless stretches nearly the whole length of the western side of South America.  Its western border is entirely embraced by the Pacific Ocean.  The features of the land covered by Chile are so extreme that in some places, rainfall has not been experienced in centuries while in some places, the land is so lush and verdant.

If you are going on a holiday trip to Chile, the best way to enjoy your holiday trip is to discover for yourself the extreme yet beautiful natural wonders that Chile is so famous for.  Here are spots that you should not miss:

San Pedro de Atacama.  San Pedro de Atacama is a commune that grew from an oasis in the middle of the desert of Atacama.  Some parts of this commune have not seen rainfall in centuries.  Tourists include San Pedro de Atacama on their holiday trip itinerary to Chile because of the natural wonders to be found in this region alone.  In San Pedro de Atacama, you will find El Tatio, which is a geyser field with 80 active geysers; the Salar de Atacama, which is a gigantic salt flat; and the Valle de la Luna, a valley with beautiful dry lakes and a landscape similar to the moon's surface.

The Cordillera del Paine. The Cordillera del Paine is a small mountain group located in the Chile side of the Patagonia region. Tourists with some hiking in mind include the Cordillera del Paine in their holiday trip itinerary simply for the spectacular vistas offered by these mountains. The most popular of this group of mountains are called the Towers of Paine, a trio of huge granite monoliths.

Chungara Lake.  The Chungara Lake, located in Chile's Tarapaca Region, is one of the highest lakes in the world.  It offers a mysterious romance to tourists on a holiday trip in that area.

The Easter Island.  The Easter Island lies off to the west of Chile on the Pacific Ocean. The island is popular to tourists not just because of its lovely natural landscapes but also for the mysterious moai statues found there.

Chile is a land of many extremes and spectacular scenery. This country is best savored on a holiday trip exploring these beauties.
